Introduction:

Indacaterol is an ultra-long-acting beta-adrenoceptor agonist. It is ususally an aerosol formulation through a dry powder inhaler. It is an Organic Reactive Intermediate.

Its potency in isolated guinea pig trachea is greater than formoterol and salmeterol. It is over 100 times more selective for bronchial muscle than myocardial tissue.

This compound belongs to the class of organic compounds known as hydroxyquinolones. These are compounds containing a quinoline moiety bearing a hydroxyl group and a ketone. Quinoline or benzopyridine is a bicyclic compound that consists of benzene fused to a pyridine.
